The UC Davis Arboretum and Public Garden’s student-led Arboretum Ambassador team invite families, students, community members of all ages to their second natural tie-dye workshop Saturday, January 19, from 1:00-3:00 p.m. on the UC Davis campus at Wyatt Deck on Arboretum Drive.
The event is free, all you need to bring is white items you wish to tie-dye, such as t-shirts, socks, shorts, pillow-cases, etc. The Arboretum Ambassadors provide everything else, including the eco-friendly green, yellow, blue, and red dyes made of compostable materials: grass clippings, turmeric, beets, red cabbage, blueberries and blackberries. You will also be provided with instructions to easily repeat the process at home.
The team hopes to teach the community about the benefits of naturally tie-dying clothes using plant and food-based materials as opposed to using harsh chemicals.
“Our mission is to present the Arboretum and Public Garden as a fun and safe communal space,” say representatives from the Arboretum Ambassador team. “We focus on spreading environmental awareness and sustainability in creative and fun ways through events like this.”
Do not miss out on this wonderful, engaging, and highly entertaining event for all ages. If it rains, the event will take place at 146 Environmental Horticulture, near Wyatt Deck.
