Environmental Science and Management
Naturalized Lands and Habitat Restoration Student Co-Coordinator, 2015-17

My experience with the Learning by Leading program was, without a doubt, one of the most influential factors on my decision to pursue a career in the environmental sector. My mentors — Andrew Fulks and Robert Bohn — created a nurturing yet challenging environment that allowed my passion for environmental work to flourish. My favorite aspect of the Learning by Leading program was that the professional staff facilitated an environment that challenged students to use creativity and independent thought to accomplish a project. Personally, my experience in this program allowed me to grow as a leader and helped me realize that my dream job mirrors my position as the co-coordinator of the Habitat Restoration and Naturalized Lands Internship — one where I get to work outdoors with passionate and caring people who share my love for the environment. Thank you to Robert, Andrew, and the Arboretum professional staff for an unforgettable two years.
