Arboretum Ambassador Co-Coordinator
The Arboretum was such an important part of my experience at Davis. Joining the ambassadors was so rewarding. This position helped me realize my passion for public outreach, allowing me to explore my interest in botany while sharing my knowledge of environmental studies. I have enjoyed engaging with the community. I have been able to learn so much from the arboretum staff, my ambassador internship peers, and enthusiastic program attendees. I’ve learned so much in teamwork and collaboration by getting deeply involved the process of outreach coordination and implementation.
The Arboretum is a huge support network and I’m so grateful to have been a part of that family. Being able to work in a place so special for the students and people of Davis was the most wonderful part. To hear about memories created in the arboretum or favorite spots (even a favorite plant!) was really exciting. Davis as a town has such a strong sense of community and I think the arboretum is a natural extension of that. My time as an undergraduate at UC Davis and as a Co-coordinator for the Arboretum Ambassadors have been the most rewarding and positive learning experiences. I was given so much opportunity to lead, to grow and to explore the Arboretum through my position, and for this, the Arboretum and Public Garden and its staff will always have a special place in my heart.
