Event Date
Join us for a volunteer day!
Volunteer days are a great way to give back, meet other members of the community who enjoy volunteering and gardening, and experience the therapeutic effects of spending time in nature. No prior gardening experience is needed to participate, and everyone over the age of 18 is welcome regardless of your affiliation with UC Davis.
Event details
For the first time, our Second Saturday Community volunteer day will take place on the Putah Creek Riparian Reserve! We will be focusing on site preparation tasks, including creating brush piles and removing debris and trash.
Please note that this worksite is located on a semi-steep slope with numerous tripping hazards. Sturdy, closed‑toe shoes and long pants are essential.
Brush pile creation is physically demanding, and temperatures are expected to be in the mid‑80s. Please dress appropriately and only sign up if you feel you are physically able to participate in labor-intensive work. We will provide water and light snacks.
Meeting Location
We will be meeting near the UC Davis Sheep Barn west of central campus. Get coordinates and directions to the meeting location.
Please note that this location is not accessible by public transportation and is a 2-mile and about 10-minute bicycle ride from central campus. Directional signs will be put out on the volunteer day to make our location easier to find.
