Arboretum open during Waterway construction

Open during construction!

As the holiday season approaches and guests start traveling to town, please remember that the Arboretum is open during construction!

While some of our entrance points at the east end (near downtown Davis) are fenced off, nearby pathways and lightly trafficked roads remain open. Please follow detour signage posted along the fencing or consult the detour map below to find the best route for your visit. The construction project extends from the eastern terminus of the Arboretum Waterway and ends at the A Street bridge about a quarter of a mile away.

As you wander the Arboretum, we encourage you to take a peek through the fencing …

You will find the start of a cutting-edge engineering solution for improving the Waterway from an ecological, educational and aesthetic standpoint. The series of concrete and steel structures located in the Waterway (weirs) will help keep the water moving and decrease the amount of surface duckweed and algae that typically accumulates. In addition, we are addressing safety concerns and updating our pathways to improve accessibility.

This work is part of a four-phase, multi-year project to maintain and enhance the Arboretum Waterway. LEARN MORE on our Arboretum Waterway Maintenance and Enhancement Project website.

Thank you for your patience as construction takes place!
