The UC Davis Arboretum is at the heart of the community. Since its founding in 1936, the Arboretum has become an outstanding public garden, and like the great parks of places like San Francisco and New York—it is all things to all people—a gathering place and a place for solitude, a place to walk or run, to read and think, to admire the beauty of nature, to hear music, to make art, to lounge in the sun. It’s the place we take our children to introduce them to nature. When family and friends visit, we take them to the Arboretum. We make the Arboretum the backdrop for our special occasions. We hold weddings, family reunions, memorials. But the Arboretum is much more than a great public park—it’s a living museum.
The 22,000 plants in 17 collections spread over 100 acres have a mission. They are a valuable laboratory supporting the important work of scientists who pursue a greater understanding of our natural world. The Arboretum has its own special mission too—to teach us to become environmental stewards of our own small piece of California.
We can’t do it without you.
University of California funding only meets a portion of our needs. Every year, we must raise a large part of our budget from memberships and gifts from donors like you. There are many ways to give. You can make an unrestricted tax-deductible gift through the Friends of the UC Davis Arboretum and Public Garden. You may also make gifts in memory of a loved one, endow an activity or aspect of the Arboretum so that your gift will live in perpetuity through the Arboretum’s work, or include the Arboretum in your estate plan. From time to time, the Arboretum will hold a special campaign to fund a new aspect of the Arboretum facility or program.
We thank you for your support and pledge to use your gift to continue making a difference.
