Green flags like these let our volunteers and staff know that a plant nearby needs to be documented into our living museum's collection.

What's that? Green flags identify unmapped plants

Did you know all of the Arboretum’s new plantings are mapped and and recorded in a plant database? Our curatorial team uses these green flags to identify plants that still need to be documented into our living museum’s collection. Maintaining an accurate database ensures that our plant collection can be studied by researchers and students in a variety of fields.

Are you a student looking for fieldwork experience? We are currently recruiting plant surveyors to map our collection. Contact Angelica Sauceda at amsauceda@ucdavis.edu if you are interested!
