Wyatt Deck construction

Paving the way toward a brand new deck

Take a peek behind the fences

The Wyatt Deck project continues to make rapid progress!

If you’ve been watching the project from behind the construction fencing, you’ve likely seen contractors busy at work!

So far, contractors completed demolition, laid the main brick paver path connecting Wyatt Deck to the Mary Wattis Brown Garden of California Native Plants, installed new stairs, and poured landings for the concrete plaza.

Now, they're installing handrails along the new ADA accessible ramp leading from the Arboretum Drive bike path, down to the Arboretum's brick paver trail. Once the rails and finishing touches on the ramp are finished, the Mary Wattis Brown path will re-open, while detours around the deck remain.

Construction on the deck itself is up next and set to begin as soon as the redwood lumber and metal framing arrive. Stay tuned for more updates on the reimagining of this beloved space on campus!
