Volunteers

2023 Volunteer Recruitment

In 2023, we are seeking new volunteers to join our gardening volunteer teams. Trainings will be offered in winter and include a combination of expert instruction and hands-on projects. Space is limited. Applications are due by January 16, 2023.

About My Garden

Terry Davison, south Davis resident, describes the evolution of her front and backyard landscapes.

Nursery Caretakers

A small group of volunteer nursery caretakers at the UC Davis Arboretum Teaching Nursery transplant up to 300 seedlings and cuttings a week. Most of the plants they propagate are offered for sale to the public at the Friends of the UC Davis Arboretum and Public Garden seasonal plant sale fundraisers.

Volunteers get green light to come back!

Last week, during National Volunteer Appreciation Week, we were thrilled to once again welcome community volunteers back to the landscapes and nursery. This comes after our Arboretum and Public Garden volunteer program was put on hiatus over a year ago due to pandemic-related campus health and safety restrictions.

McBride Family Legacy Lives On

Don McBride likes digging in the dirt... and giving back to his community. Those interests have led to his passion for volunteering with and supporting the Arboretum and Public Garden!

Resolve to get outside, make a difference

The UC Davis Arboretum and Public Garden is looking for volunteers! This could be your chance to not only work with nature, give back to the community and connect with new people, but also receive expert instruction and an opportunity to be involved hands-on projects that improve the local and regional environment. Deadline to apply is Friday, January 17, 2020.
